Ben Folds The Long Center For The Performing Arts - IN Concert reviews
Ben Folds with Y-Music
While Ben Folds may not be everyone's cup of tea, if you like well written songs, both musically and lyrically, as well as piano and small orchestral ensemble pieces - this is a sure thing. Other than the occasional (and often not subtle) curse words, I find Ben Folds to write engaging, brilliant music. Add to that an amazingly talented group of instrumentalists (violin, cello, flute, piccolo, trumpet, french horn, clarinet, bass clarinet) otherwise known as Y-Music and you get the best of small orchestra/symphony with fun piano music as well as a show. Ben's newest album is such a welcome departure from what you hear everyday on the radio - so if you love top 40 and auto tune, this is probably not the show for you. If you truly appreciate musical talent, this is hard to beat.
